About
Michael J. Butler’s Biography
I have extensive experience in no-fault, auto negligence, premises liability, insurance, and general negligence litigation. I am the proud Director of the Detroit Bar Association—and member of its No-Fault Steering Committee—and co-chair of the no-fault section and the work-life balance section. Currently, I serve as a neutral case evaluator in Wayne and Genesee Counties and as an arbitrator and mediator, having completed the SCAO Mediator certification. This experience also allows me to participate in the Wayne County Circuit Court Mediation Program for cases valued under $25,000.
In addition to my experience practicing law, many of my articles have been published in the Detroit Lawyer magazine, Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the Detroit Legal News, and the Livonia Observer. I have also been a featured speaker and panelist at many law-related events and seminars.
Other roles include being an officer on the Board of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Michigan, Chairman of the Catholic Central Shamrock Bar Association, and past President of the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit, the Judge Kaye Tertzag Tribute Dinner (Purple Sport Coat Award), and the Catholic Central Alumni Association.
